Since 2014, HOPE FARM is one of TKO’s (Team Kenya Outreach) proudest achievements.
We have been able to establish a working farm for the people in Lodwar, Kenya. The Hope Farm literally brings hope into the lives of the 900,000 people in that county – 800,000 of whom live below the poverty line.
HOPE FARM is a sustainable agriculture facility which provides watermelons, tomatoes, spinach, collards, other vegetables, and various herbs for the local market.
The farm is located in Lodwar, Kenya on a 20-acre fenced-in plot that is owned by the Church of the Nazarene. There is an adjoining 30-acre unfenced plot, which may become available in the future.
In 2021, the second phase of harvest was disrupted due to flooding. Only 75% of the projected harvest was salvaged, but this was a much better outcome than if our farm workers had not been as amazing as they are.
Our new farm manager Mr. Oscar Kibet (with his team Gabriel and Regina) has impressed everyone with his ability to manage Hope Farm’s operations.
We are excited to begin the Poultry Project and bring chickens to the Hope Farm! Our team has been educated on poultry management. Now they’re eager to pump more life into Lodwar’s local community. To God be the glory!
